On 18th November 2006, the Leamington Spa Mission helped to wrap 118 Christmas presents in shoeboxes for Adra UK that will be sent to several orphanages in Liberia. This total is up from 90 last year!

14 years of civil war have left approx. 50,000 children orphaned. Over 50% of the orphans are sheltered in various orphanages and vulnerable group centers that have sprung up all over the country. Another 20% or so of the children living in these orphanages are from very underprivileged homes; children whose parents cannot afford the basic necessities of life due to their very low economic status, caused by prolonged war, poverty and illiteracy.
