The Alpha Course

What is it?

Put simply, the Alpha Course is an ideal opportunity to discover the basics of the Christian faith in an informal, relaxed and welcoming environment. The course runs every Saturday evening over a period of 10 weeks.

Each evening will start with a meal - and a good one at that! This is an opportunity to get to know the people in your group, make new friends and have a laugh. Each group will consist of about 10 people. This will be your group for the entire course. Following dinner there is a presentation on the topic of the evening, each week we will cover a new topic.

Week 1 Who is Jesus?
Week 2 Why did Jesus die?
Week 3 How can I be sure of my faith?
Week 4 Why and how should I read the Bible?
Week 5 Why and how should I pray?
Week 6 How does God guide us?
Week 7 Holy Spirit day - Away day
Week 8 How can I resist evil?
Week 9 Does God heal today?
Week 10 Telling others. What about the Church?

After the meal it's coffee and small group discussions. In your group you then have the opportunity to share opinions and thoughts on the presentation and ask any questions you might have. The crux of Alpha is that no question is too simple or too difficult. This is a time to listen, learn, discuss and discover.

These are some of the most commonly asked questions:

Who is it for?
What does Alpha stand for?
I'm not convinced Alpha is for me!
I want to join the course. When is it running? What is the next step?
How much does the course cost?
